unChristian

I just finished reading a book called UnChristian. It made me angry, gave me hope and refocused my vision all at the same time. If you're a Christ follower who cares about seeing people who are far from God find their way back to Him, I highly recommend it. The book is based on a study about what people outside the church really think Christians are like. What they found is that those of us who are supposed to be most like Jesus are perceived as being more unlike Him than any other group of people. The best part of the book is how they describe ways that the church can begin to change the world's perceptions. Like it or not, the way the world sees us is the way people will ultimately view Jesus and the life He offers. That's why this matters. The American church has largely misrepresented the most compelling, grace-filled individual who ever lived. It's our fault and it's our job to change these perceptions. I hope we can do it, at least in our little corner of the world. Pick up a copy. It's really a great read.
