Question #2: What does the Bible say about cremation?

The Bible says nothing outright about cremation being sinful. God will have no problem resurrected a cremated body. So if you have a relative who has been cremated or if you have decided on that method, you should not worry about their destiny when the resurrection comes. However, the pattern in the New Testament is always burial. Partly because burial points to the believer's hope in the resurrection of Christ and of their own body. And in some religions, cremation is seen as a means of being released from the body. But Christians look forward to the restoration of our bodies. So in that sense, burial better symbolizes the hope of the resurrection. Just like baptism by immersion symbolizes Christ's death, burial and resurrection, our burial at death symbolizes the same thing.

But the bottom line is cremation is not forbidden in scripture. The question is whether or not our hope lies in the resurrection of Jesus and His power to do the same for us.
