Questions About Today's Message

If you'd like to ask a question about something you heard in today's message "You Asked For It: Is Jesus The Only Way?" here's how to submit it. Just click on the "comments" link below, type the question into the box and follow the instructions to post it. Then, check back over the next few days and you'll see a series of blog posts where I'll do my best to answer some of them. Here are a few things to remember before posting a question:
  • Only serious, honest questions, please. I'll be moderating and they won't get posted or answered if they're not.
  • Stay on topic! Only ask questions related to the message. If you need to refresh your memory or you haven't even heard it yet, click here and go to the "watch/listen to messages" link.
  • Stick to questions that have some sort of eternal significance. I'm really not interested in "in house" Christian debating.

First let me say that I enjoyed today's message a lot. It wasn't an easy topic, but a necessary one. The only real question I have is in regards to those who are culturally isolated. Ill paraphrase how I interpreted the message and you can clarify if i got it wrong.

Those who are in isolated cultures who do not have any tangible knowledge of Jesus can still get into Heaven as long as they are actively seeking out God. They do not necessarily have to accept Jesus (as long as they have no knowledge of Him) as long as they have a relationship with God. If I got this wrong please let me know. Thanks Jason.

I didn't take communion Sunday for the first time. I felt sure now that I don't completely believe the Christian doctrine. I'm not saying that you gave a bad sermon, just that I realize I have not been honest all the other times that I took communion. I feel that in my personal experiences with God, as he has shown himself to me, that the elephant analogy is still the most valid, and that we all get God in the way he appears to us. I don't believe that the God I feel (as he would have me feel) has any such limitation on how to reach him. I must also admit that I have many unanswered questions about Jesus though and now realize that these questions in my beliefs must be resolved if I am to find the truth. Can we set appointments to meet and discuss these issues?

kcooper,
Absolutely. I would be more than willing to sit down and talk with you about those issues. Please contact me by email or call the church office. 770-251-9516.

This may sound silly but what about those who were born before Jesus?

And what if you believe that Jesus is your Lord and Savior because that is how you were raised but also believe that others can be saved through other means? Does that mean you don't really believe?

my question is not exactly ON topic. feel free to not post it if it's too far off topic.

when a Christian dies, does the soul leave the body and go immediately to be with Jesus? or is the soul of the dead awaiting His return also? I've heard it both ways. (i think the time i spent learning from a rabbi has me confused on this issue.)

Heather,
I answered that exact question in a message I preached on 11/30/08. Go to the CCC website and click "resources." Look in the 2008 message archives.
