Day 33

1 Peter 4

Peter hangs on to the theme of suffering for being a Christian. Verse 1 just will not leave me alone. "If you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin." Of course, this doesn't mean if you suffer, then you suddenly achieve perfection. But there's a principle here. When life is simple and faith costs us nothing, sin must be a bigger issue than when faith is costly and tough. Could it be that when sin runs rampant in us, one reason is we aren't suffering for Christ enough? I can imagine that those who suffer most for Christ don't really have the time nor the stomach to be tempted by the trivial stuff that most of us are tempted by. That's definitely something to wrestle with.

Another observation: I want verse 11 to be me.
