Proverbs 6

So much stuff in the book of Proverbs you read and think "This is so obvious. Everybody knows this, don't they?" But then you find yourself doing the exact things the writer warns against and the reason you do it is because the whole time you're telling yourself these principles don't apply to you. It's funny how things are so simple until you're right in the middle of them. That's usually how it is every time I preach on some kind of sin issue. It'll be true this Sunday when I talk about lust and porn. Somebody there will be walking on coals thinking that it will never burn them. Until it does. My prayer is that they hear God's word and do something before it happens. And that I won't be so self deceived that I can't feel the heat when it's me.
