Psalm 32 talks a lot about the forgiveness of God which is an awesome thing. When we finally face up to sin and admit it to God, we find Him standing ready the whole time to forgive us and restore us to relationship with Him. A friend and I were talking about sin and forgiveness the other day. One thing I think about most of us in the church today is we understand grace and forgiveness pretty well (as it applies to us). Most Christians have no problem asking God for forgiveness and walking away pretty confident that it's been given. But the problem is, we do that over and over and over again. Forgiveness is not the problem. God is faithful. Forgiveness always extends from His heart. The problem is repentance. If repentance was happening in our hearts, there wouldn't be so much need for forgiveness of the same sins. I think most of us spend plenty of time confessing to God and not near enough time confessing to other people. Something about that makes it real and there's more accountability there. The only people I've known who were successful in true repentance and rooting habitual sin out of their lives were people who confessed their sin to another person.
