It's funny to me how Christians from the very beginning have tried to make salvation about Jesus plus something else. We fill in the "something else" blank with different things depending on the time or the culture. Some disciples in this account wanted to make it about Jesus AND the ritual of circumcision. Others today choose a particular Bible version or a style of worship or a specific rule. Why is it so hard for us to just be content with Christ crucified?
