A lot of people read this passage when they're going through tough times to put suffering into perspective. But it's hard for me to apply this chapter to any of the suffering I've been through when I think of the exact circumstances that Paul is writing in. He literally faces death and torture every day simply for following Jesus. I've never suffered like that and probably never will. So when he calls his suffering "small" I wonder what that makes mine.
