To me, this is a psalm that sounds schizophrenic. There's beautiful praise and worship to God. Phrases that describe how awesome God is. And then there are death threats for his enemies. It can be hard to reconcile the two. But it reminds me that the psalms are emotional cries from a human heart. And God hears them all. He understands the pull inside of us to see evil punished and justice done...whether we express it in the right way or not. He also hears the heart and the motives of someone who loves Him and places Him in His rightful place. So on balance, psalms like this tell me just as much about God as they do about me.
