We don't think of it and talk about it like this very often, but outside of Christ we're dead. Physically alive but spiritually dead. And the only thing that can bring us to life is Christ. I often make sure to point that fact out to people when I baptize them. Immersion is a burial. And you don't bury people when they're alive. This chapter talks about that reality.
