Verse 27 says "live as citizens of heaven." He means right now. So many of us talk about how great it's going to be when we get to heaven. The change that we'll experience. The new person we'll become. Paul says - why don't you just live like that now? Why not live each day as if you're already in God's presence and sin has no control over you? Why not practice peace and freedom and joy as if it's already in you? The reason he can say that is because for the believer all of that has already happened. God's presence is constantly with us. Sin is defeated and washed clean. We have the Holy Spirit who brings peace and joy and freedom and all the other fruit He works in us. Live as citizens of heaven...right now.
