UnChristian?

Tonight I started reading the new book "UnChristian". It's based on a brand new study among the next generation of Americans on their perceptions about Christianity. The picture is not pretty at all. Just looking at the chapter titles you find words like:
judgmental
hypocritical
too political
sheltered
antihomosexual.

It's just got me thinking: Jesus (our leader) said "they will know you are My followers by the way you love one another." Plain and simple. Take a look at that list. I'd say we're pretty far off track. How did Christians become perceived as so "unChristian"? I'm sure this book is going to make me madder the more I read. I guess that just means we're going to have do a little more loving and less judging, hypocriting, politicing, sheltering (you get the idea). What do you think?

Jason, I think you are absolutely right. We need to be more loving! Let us not have a judgmental bone in our bodies. Community Christian invites every one to "come as they are". Here's the rub, it is up to every single person in this body of believers to show folks that we do accept and love them just as they are. I think your sermons teach us that and I am very, very proud to be a member! Let's kick "unchristian" thinking right in the teeth! I think we all have to take personal responsibility for loving others. Let me start today!

Whenever you talk to a dying church
I supposed they would blame attendance or lack of grace on external forces. Ed made a really good point a long time ago when he said "Sometimes people forget that Churches are buildings but the members are the body of Christ" I sometimes wonder how Europe would be different if there were churches like CCC over there. Where wearing jeans to church isn't a sin.

I keep remembering too about the ebay story of the atheist going to church for the first time. (It's on Ed's blog)
