Weekend Update

  • Talk about a tough topic!! In some ways, preaching that message yesterday on the justice of God was like getting a root canal (I've never had one of those but I hear it's painful. In fact, I've never even had a cavity. OK. I'm rambling now.) But in other ways, preaching it was a powerful experience. When you begin to realize just how huge of a problem my sin is to God, then you start to grasp a little more of how amazing grace is. I wish I could have stayed in the room to sing "Jesus Paid It All" and "Mighty To Save" with the rest of you guys but I could hear it in the hallway. Awesome moment.
  • Ed's up this weekend. He will present the kinder, gentler side of God. After yesterday, I'm sure most of you are very pleased to hear that.
  • I get the privilege of baptizing someone this Sunday at the 10:30 service. That's one thing that I will never, ever get tired of.
  • It's always a good weekend when the Braves take 2 from the Mets. After I preached, I got to go home and crash on the couch and watch the entire game while my littlest one slept. Then she woke up and we played all afternoon. I enjoyed every second!
  • Another great weekend at CCC Madras. A good attendance especially for Spring Break week. And they had the highest Community Kids attendance so far!
  • I'd like to welcome into the blogosphere the latest member of the family of "nearly useless weekly blog series from CCC staff members." I will now look forward to every Monday when I can read Bill's Babblings alongside of Ed's Sunday Night Mind Dump. Brilliant!!!
  • I spent part of my day today preparing for the World Religions Panel we'll be hosting on April 27. I will be the person representing Christianity and I can hardly wait. I really believe this could be a major event for people in our community who are curious about God and seeking truth. I'm also preparing a press release that will hopefully get us some exposure in the local media. I think that could go a long way in helping us invite friends. Click here for the entire scoop.
  • If you attend CCC Madras, they need your help!!! There are still plenty of serving positions before, during and after services that need filling. Send Bill Coffman an email and be a contributor to what God's doing at the Madras campus.
  • I get to take off a few days this week and hang with my wife and kids. Looking forward to it.
