Just Wondering...
First of all, let me say that I do not watch American Idol. I thoroughly enjoy the early rounds but once they eliminate the ones with no talent, I get bored. Anyway, that being said: This week at the close of one of their telecasts the contestants of American Idol ended the show with a version of the popular worship song "Shout to the Lord." Which makes you think: Wow! A show that reaches tens of millions of viewers singing a song of worship to Jesus. I heard about it and went directly to the source of everything video (YouTube) and watched it for myself. What a shock! Every time the song was supposed to mention the name "Jesus" it had been edited to something like "shepherd" or another less specific term. They literally went through the song and removed Jesus' name every time it appeared in the lyrics. Another thing that puzzled me. Each track from the broadcast is available in a studio version for download on iTunes. But in that version, Jesus is left in. You guys know I'm not an ultra-religious nut who spends time complaining about stuff like this but it just made me wonder. Why would the producers of the show do that? I have my own theories. Maybe I'll share them at some point. Curious to know what you think.

Funny you should bring that up, I've often thought about the same thing, not just with that show, but with all popular shows on popular networks. My theory: Satan is doing his job VERY well, convincing millions that Jesus does not exist by going straight to the source of powerful influence--politics,the media and the network themselves. How? Money and Power. Those are the two things that influence ppl the most, the two things that, when taken advantage of, destroys lives
ever so subtley. Let's get real here--if Jesus was all over the networks, don't you think the ratings would drop? That would mean lots of money lost, shows canceled, etc. Lots of unwanted controversy for the networks. Another reality is the fact that the millions that get sucked into these programs are influenced by them and the celebrities that are idolized. I do not see Scientology being censored, nor did the big Kaballah (sp?) craze get censored. It's all part of the big evil plan--satan's biggest lie--that he doesn't exist. If he doesn't , then how can Jesus, right? Doesn't matter to the father of lies if we don't believe in him, bc he sure as heck believes in us. Let the world believe in false gods, but let's keep "Jesus and God" out of it. Lot's of blinded ppl out there, and that's why it is so important for christians to reach out, just as CCC does , to open the eyes of as many ppl as they can. Through open eyes, and an open heart, one can actually "see" the bigger picture, the subtleties (such as the name "Jesus" being censored"), all of a sudden aren't so subtle. Actually, it becomes one of the first things you pick up on.
In the interest of full disclosure, I just found out today that when American Idol aired the very next night, the song was sung once again. Only this time, the name Jesus was back in the song! Now I'm even more curious as to why they put it back.
