Weekend Update

  • Yesterday's service was really amazing. So many people "signed their name on the line" and are choosing to go public in accepting grace. Last I heard, we had 8 people who made decisions and are scheduling baptisms.
  • CCC Madras continues to thrive. They kept consistent numbers even through Spring Break. That's really saying something. And I just got word that their Student Ministry which is only 2 weeks old now is doing awesome!!
  • Had a blast performing that baptism at the 10:30 service. A mom decided to surprise her daughter and when the screen went up I looked down into the crowd where I knew her daughter was sitting and saw her nearly fall out of her chair. She was really shocked and moved. So was I. Later, the daughter told me - "We almost decided not to come to church today but I told my husband that we had to go because today could be the service that speaks to my mom." Coincidence? I don't think so.
  • This coming Sunday we're continuing the God for Dummies series by talking about God as our Father. I'll be talking about how many of us got a less than perfect image of "dad" growing up and how that changes how we see God. The service will end with a great drama/song package. Don't miss it.
  • Just sent off a press release to the Newnan Times-Herald announcing our world religions panel on April 27. Hopefully you'll see it in the paper in the next week or so. Use the story as a way to talk to unchurched friends and invite them to come. I said it yesterday: This service will be one you won't forget.
  • Had some amazing meals this weekend (which is always good if you know how much I love food). Friday night we went with some friends to a place called Twist at Phipps Plaza and I had a massive platter of sushi. And Saturday was a low country boil at my neighbor's. So I went from eating sushi in Buckhead to ripping off crawfish heads on my neighbor's deck. That's what I call variety.

Jason and those of you at CCC that have worked with my Mom; Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I am so proud to call CCC my home. I was shocked and moved. Sunday will always go down as one of the most special Sunday's for me at CCC.

Definitely NOT a coincidence that we came Sunday. Actually, we never miss. It would have been odd for us not to come.

It's funny, when church becomes NOT about you, it is never something you feel obligated to do. When serving becomes NOT about you it is never a chore.

Hmmm- I think JESUS said somewhere in the Bible that HE wants us to share with our friends - and yet, I see no bowl of low country boil waiting for me - so sad, so very sad....

OK, Javabold. No over-spiritualized whining on my blog please. :)

That was no over-spiritualized whining, it was a drive-by guilting!
