Weekend Update

  • I never get tired of preaching about reaching unconnected people. It always fires me up. So yesterday's message was pretty emotional for me. Especially the first time I gave it at 9am. Sometimes I can't believe that God lets me talk for Him.
  • I felt a huge weight on my shoulders all morning before the services. It was doing crazy things to my digestive system!! It got better as the day went on.
  • Attendance looked like it was back up from the typical summer slump. I heard the same was true at Madras.
  • We had lots of folks take advantage of the class on "How to Study the Bible." If you haven't checked it out, you ought to. They're learning some pretty cool stuff. 10:30 @ Sharpsburg. Noon @ Madras.
  • I know we're only half way through the summer, but we've already started writing messages, small group lessons and planning services for the fall.
  • Speaking of that, I've got so much writing on my plate this week. One message that's half done (and way past due...sorry guys!), another message I haven't even started yet, and a DVD lesson for small groups. Looks like I'll be in seclusion most of the week.
  • The Little Mermaid birthday party at my house went off without a hitch. That dang waterslide covered half my yard!! It was huge...and fast!
  • I can't believe Abby turns 5 on Tuesday.
  • Get to go to 2 Braves games this week. Tuesday night with my little birthday girl and Wednesday with the church staff in an all-you-can-eat seat!! My money's on Kelley Davenport to become hot dog eating champ.
  • I can't stop listening to the new My Morning Jacket CD. I know they've been around awhile but I'm just now discovering them so all the "cool kids" can make fun of me...but this disc is awesome!
