Weekend Update

  • Ed brought it on Sunday!! "God uses imperfect people because he has no other choice!" Loved that line. But this one came in a close second: "Abraham whored out his wife!"
  • The Madras campus had another baptism. Another person who might never have been reached if we hadn't launched our multi-site strategy. Isn't following Jesus cool?
  • I kept getting reminded all day why I love being part of a "church for the rest of us." I can't imagine being anywhere else.
  • Ed and I both had conversations Sunday with people who have just recently made the decision to follow Jesus and get baptized. This morning I got an email from another one. Sunday night, Kelley spoke with a teen in our student ministry. This is what it's all about.
  • Abby (my 5 year old) walked out of children's ministry on Sunday and said to her mom, "Mommy, I know how many people there are in the whole world.....60,000!!!" OK, so she's a little off with her information but she's totally on mission! And I couldn't be prouder. Last week, we cut out and decorated her very own paper person that she now has prominently displayed in her room to represent her unchurched friend she's going to invite.
  • Challenged by my small group, I've been praying every day this week for my "paper people." I'm praying for the Holy Spirit to do something that will draw them toward Jesus. I'm also looking for whatever my part is going to be in that. Can't wait to see what happens.
  • Really enjoyed embarrassing Mike Parker by having the noon service sing Happy Birthday to him. I know that's going to come back and bite me in the butt one day.
  • Well, it was ugly but the Dawgs won Saturday. What is it about South Carolina? We always stink against them. And with this schedule, we can't afford to take any weeks off.
  • People who know me well know that I'm a closet metalhead. So don't let this shock you too much....THE NEW METALLICA CD IS AWESOME!!!!!!
