Question #6: Revelation 20:13 says we're judged based on what we've done, does that mean we get a second chance after we die?
The clear teaching from the Bible tells us the answer is no. Looking at the larger context of that passage, you'll see that the key point of the judgment that takes place is whether or not a person's name was recorded in the book of life. It's just another way of describing whether or not a person has placed faith in Christ for their salvation. Verse 14 itself indicates that every single person who was in hell upon their death, then spends eternity apart from God, which again leaves no room for second chances. And also when you look at the whole of scripture, we find many other passages that echo the same thing. Jesus' story of the rich man and Lazarus leaves very little room for second chances. 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 says that the time to receive salvation is now. This gives us no indication that another time is coming after death. And if you simply look at the actions of Jesus' followers recorded in the Bible, they all possessed a sense of urgency for people everywhere to come to a saving faith in Christ. They implored and begged people not to reject Him. It makes little sense to me that they would have an attitude like that if they also knew that everybody was getting a second shot at it after they died.
