Not quite there. That's how I'd describe just about everybody surrounding Jesus in this chapter. Everybody believes, but they come up short every time. Jesus tells the disciples twice He's going to rise from the dead and maybe they really didn't understand. But I think they just didn't have the faith to conceive of such a thing. The father who brought his son to be healed had some faith that Jesus could do it but not enough to be completely confident. The disciples have the faith to follow Jesus but still couldn't give up the need to grab for power and make things happen on their own. Almost. But not quite there. And that makes me glad. Because that's the story of my life and pretty much every Christ follower I know. I've got faith enough to follow and do a lot of what God asks me to do. But not everything. That's the gap I keep working on. It's the stretching part of faith.
