Day 14

Proverbs 2

I love verse 7. God grants us a treasure of common sense. That's not the way a lot of Christians think when they think God. We think of God's ways in spiritual terms and I admit there are some things God asks people to do that, in the moment, don't make sense. But the vast majority of God's ways are just plain old fashioned practical common sense. I sit with people all the time who want to know what to do or say in a certain situation or problem. The answer is almost always simple and obvious. And we usually know it when we hear it. But there's that something in us that wants to reject the common sense, practical, God answer for the one we feel like doing. It seems that feelings always trump wisdom. And feelings almost always screw things up. God, I want to be the kind of man that acts according to the good common sense you gave me instead of what I feel like doing.
