I'm sorry this is such an unspiritual observation about this chapter. Jesus goes out walking on the water and His disciples are in the boat. Verse 48 says that Jesus' intention was to walk past them. So does that mean Jesus never planned for the disciples to even see this miracle? Was He just thinking - "Man, it's a long way around this lake. Think I'll take a shortcut and try out this water walking deal." Did Jesus do other cool stuff like that that nobody ever saw, just for fun? I kind of like to think He did. I'll have to ask Him that when I see Him.
