Day 97

Acts 18

Paul has confidence. Not just in who he is or what he's preaching. He has confidence that God is the one in charge of this whole deal and not him. Someone who has the ability to boldly preach the gospel and then when it gets rejected to not reflect that back on himself, walk away and feel not guilt or regret...that's an admirable thing (verse 6). It's not that he doesn't care about the people. He's just confident and he believes that he's done his job and the results of it rest on the people he preaches to and God. That's important for us to remember with nearly everything we do. And I need this as much as anybody. God never called me to achieve specific results in my service to Him. Whenever that becomes my focus, I lose the proper motivation and the joy that comes from serving God. God only ever called me to be faithful, to work hard, to obey and display the fruit of the Spirit. Whatever comes from that is a generous blessing from Him. If nothing ever comes from that, it's irrelevant. My joy doesn't come from results. My joy is knowing Christ and having the privilege of doing life with Him.
