The tradition in which I was raised had a saying that I really love. In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, love. This chapter is partially where that comes from. And I'm proud of that part of my Christian heritage. I think it's a principle that the church must get right. And mostly, at CCC I think we do. One of my best friends and I have a sharp disagreement about a particular theological point. But it's not an essential belief. So we argue and push each other's buttons about it. But at the end of the day, we're still friends and brothers in Christ. And that's how it ought to be. (even though he's wrong!)
