Reading this chapter, it really stood out to me the contrast between Jesus and His disciples. As the events that lead to His crucifixion are put into motion, it's amazing to watch the amount of confidence, peace and strength that Jesus displays. And in comparison, it's sad to see the disciples show the exact opposite. They promise over and over again they'll never betray Him or desert Him, but they do it anyway. They promise to stay awake as He prayed, but they go to sleep anyway. They promise to die for Him if they have to, but they run at the first sign of trouble. And Jesus, knowing in advance that all of this would happen. Knowing precisely the kind of death He was about to face. Knowing that the sin of the world would be placed on Him. Jesus doesn't flinch. Jesus is strong. Jesus is fearless as He completes His mission. It's just another reason why I love Him so much. He's a Savior worth following.
