Every time I read the crucifixion accounts and the way the people taunted Him by telling Him to save Himself and come down off the cross, I can't help but wonder just how difficult it was for Jesus to hold back and not do it. There's no doubt that Jesus had the power to stop the whole thing. I think about the times when my body is in pain and I do anything and everything I can to fix it. The old saying I used to hear when I was a kid was - Love, not nails, is what held Jesus on the cross. And it's true. I just can't read about Jesus' death without getting this overwhelming sense of the enormous love of God for me.
