Day 2

Mark 1

I think it makes sense that a year long reading plan would start the NT out in Mark. It's anything boring. He writes his gospel almost like a really excited guy trying to tell you a story. "Jesus did this...and then we went here...oh, and then Jesus said...etc." Even with the very first sentence, Mark gets right after it. He's so excited to get the story about Jesus out there. I love the childlike excitement about the gospel. That's something that's hard to keep. Especially doing what I do. If you're not careful, the work of ministry can take the wonder out of the gospel because it can become a job. That's why I love being around freshly redeemed people. They remind me that the gospel really is good news.
