The end of this chapter makes it pretty clear. When life goes to crap, the first place we ought to look for blame is ourselves. Most of the time, the trouble we wind up in is a result of stupid choices. Of course, sometimes bad stuff just happens and there's no one to blame. But it does serve as a good reminder. Generally speaking, if we make wise choices we end up with less trouble. Act like a fool and suffer the consequences. That's the story of almost everybody's life. I love Proverbs. I'm a common sense kind of guy and this book is the manual for it.
